Global Festa Japan 2015

Global Festa Japan 2015, an international cooperation event, was held on October 3 and 4 at the Center Promenade in Odaiba, Tokyo, under the theme of "Sharing the Happiness!" The festival was sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC) and supported by 10 central government ministries and agencies, including the Cabinet Office and Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare, and others. A total of 274 organizations exhibited, including groups and nongovernmental organizations engaged in international cooperation, and the festival attracted about 11,300 visitors.
The Global Festa Japan event is held every year with the aim of making visitors more familiar with international cooperation activities; deepening their understanding and awareness of the present state and necessity of international cooperation, including official development assistance, cooperation between the government and NGOs, and other issues; and encouraging participation in international cooperation.
JILAF organized a booth to introduce its activities, including the invitation to Japan of trade union leaders from mainly developing countries and the holding of industrial relations seminars in Asian countries, through panel displays and videos. It also exhibited and sold items produced through its SGRA projects (Supporting Grass-Roots Activities through the International Employers' and Workers' Network) in Bangladesh and Nepal. In addition, photos taken by JILAF during a visit to Nepal in July to see the district hit by a strong earthquake there in April were selected for the Global Festa Japan 2015 photo exhibition.
Visitors to JILAF's booth made such comments as "It was the first time for me to learn about international contributions in the field of labour," "Projects that meet the needs of workers are very meaningful," and "The building of relations of trust with trade unions in other countries is a major result of projects so far and contributes toward increasing trust in Japan too."
